As the holiday season approaches, accountants and company secretaries should note the key Christmas 2024 deadlines set by the Companies Registration Office (CRO). Meeting these deadlines is essential to ensure that your clients’ applications are processed in time for the Christmas break. Given the high volume of applications during this period, the CRO advises early submission to improve the chances of processing by year-end. Here’s what you need to know to stay on top of these important dates.

Key Deadlines for Christmas 2024 Processing

To accommodate applications that need completion by Christmas, the CRO has established submission cut-offs for various types of applications:

Company Incorporations Fé Phráinn Online Scheme: 9 December 2024

Company Incorporations Ordinary Online Scheme: 2 December 2024

Change of Name: 9 December 2024

Re-registrations: 9 December 2024

Company Name Reservations: 15 December 2024

Ensuring Timely Registration: Why Early Submission is Important

Each application will be processed strictly in the order received, making it essential for clients to submit their requests promptly. As the CRO handles a large volume of documents at this time of year, delays may impact companies waiting to incorporate, re-register, or secure a new name.

Submissions sent to CRO after the dates above cannot be guaranteed to be registered before Christmas break.

Planning for Success

Inform Clients Early: Communicate these deadlines to clients well in advance to ensure they have enough time to prepare the necessary documents.

Review Documentation: Double-check each application to avoid issues that could delay processing, such as missing information or incorrect filings.

Prioritize Time-Sensitive Requests: Clients with a pressing need for re-registration or company name reservation should be prioritized given the 2024 cut-offs.

By preparing in advance, accountants and company secretaries can help their clients achieve their goals before the year’s end.
